WFW: Knowing God
Today, I just wanted to share a few Scritures that talk about knowing God. With the new year approaching, everyone starts making all their resolutions; but I think that we should make it a priority every year to draw closer to God each and every day. If we think about it, do we REALLY know God? Or do we just THINK that we know Him? The deciding factor is if He knows us -- Does He know us? So that is what I wanted to talk about today.
Luke 13: 23-27 Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And He said to them, "Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for us,' and He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, where you are from,' then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.' But He will say, 'I tell you I DO NOT KNOW YOU, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.' Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 25: 34 "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world... Lu 12:32 "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Something that I find particularly interesting is that it is possible to "know" God, but not be doing what He says. Several Scriptures mention this; James even says that the demons believe that there is one God and tremble, but they have no works to back it up. I believe that this would explain why Jesus said that many would call Him "Lord" and He wouldn't know them. I don't know about you, but I WANT God to know me!'
Jeremiah 24: 7 'Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.'
1 Cor 8:2-3 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.
There are so many benefits to knowing God. Isn't it all worth it to hear Him say He knows us, rather then to hear Him say, "I do not know you. Depart from Me"?
Daniel 11:32 "Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
Psalm 91:14-16 "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."
John 17:3 "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
"Know God, Know peace; no God, no peace."
