WFW: When Everything Falls Apart

Recently, I have been going through a hard season in my life. The storms have been raging. But there are several things which have greatly encouraged me. For this week's WFW, I wanted to share some of these with you, in the hope that it will encourage you, too.

My friend, Alice, wrote a post last week that seems to sum up my feelings lately; this post has greatly comforted me, and I would encourage everyone who is struggling today to go check it out (Thanks, Alice, for the encouragement!). Another friend said to me recently -- and I am saying this in agreement -- in times like these, I am so glad that I am on the Rock! That is the place where the Anchor holds us and our house does not fall, where we are not moved by all the turmoil around us! There is one thing that came to my mind amidst all the turmoil that was a great source of hope: the words of a song. They are so simple, yet so profound and so true (song posted below lyrics):

"Sorrow will last for the night. But hope is rising with the sun. There will be storms in this life. But I know that You have overcome. When everything falls apart, Your arms hold me together. When everything falls apart, You're the only hope for this heart. When everything falls apart, and my strength is gone, I find You mighty and strong. You keep holding on."

God never lets go of us, no matter what! He sees who we are, what we've been, where we are, and where we've been, yet He loves us just the same. Zephaniah 3:17 says, "The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Recently, I got a glimpse into what that means, when I heard someone describe it as follows: A young toddler is crying, but his mother's singing quiets him and lulls him to sleep. This is just like God, always there to quiet all the storms in our lives just as Jesus did for the disciples. He quiets all the voices of the enemy with His voice of love and truth! In the hard times, instead of letting go of us, God comforts us. He "heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3) Jeremiah 18:4 says, "And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it." Here is the perfect example of God's hand holding us tightly: God never got rid of the clay when the vessel turned out imperfect; instead, He made it into another vessel "useful to the master for every good work." The doubts of "not good enough" try to creep in often (really for no reason at all, it seems), but I am so thankful that the Lord has forgiven me - that there is no condemnation with the Lord. I am an imperfect vessel, but one that is striving to reach perfection -- to be a vessel of honor; yet, I am so thankful that God never got rid of me when He saw that I was marred. Storms will come and go, but the Lord is always there, always merciful, always faithful...

  1. Amen. Glad you're encouraged! The Scripture in the picture (VERY nice!) speaks so much! Because Jesus is our righteousness, we can never be "not good enough." I am so glad you have been strengthened! I was SO desperate a few weeks ago; I had to go through terrible weeks before I finally was able to find comfort, because all that time I couldn't even think, let alone even truly and fully rest in quiet, and it seemed no one understood. But God has restored my soul! I am so thankful that I have peace in my spirit now, even though around me circumstances are still not as good as they could be. In times like that, God has not abandoned us; His grace still upholds us. The voice of the enemy has no power if we don't give in!

  2. Thank you! i needed this so much....

  3. Wow! It seems like it's going around Miss Szy...I just put up a new post on mine about the very same thing...even used the Rock illustration too! I've got a different song I'm linking in my next post, but I guess we're thinking along the same lines, eh?

Keep that house on the Rock and no matter what happens it will not fall down!

  4. I am Brazilian and I found your post when looking for this song on the internet. I really enjoyed everything you said. God's blessings to you and your family today and always.
