Friday Apologetics Finds: Easter Edition ~and a GIVEAWAY! (closed)~

Here are this weeks apologetics finds (on Saturday, this time)... Since Resurrection Sunday, commonly known as Easter, is tomorrow, this week's theme is on the Resurrection. Check out these links, and be sure to check out my FIRST giveaway at the bottom of this post! Happy Resurrection Sunday!

If one does away with the fact of the Resurrection, one also does away with the Cross, for both stand and fall together, and one would then have to find a new center for the whole message of the gospel. - Hans Urs von Balthasar

1) Confident Christianity has compiled a small list of resources on the Resurrection; you can check it out here. The website also has a post on the Day of Discovery's series titled "What Jesus Said About the Resurrection."

2) Lee Strobel talks about how the Resurrection impacted his life as an atheist; it's actually a follow up to Ricky Gervais' Easter Message. This article is based primarily on an interview which Apologetics 315 did with Lee; you can listen to it here.

3) And lastly, I have another tip for my frugal readers: Many of you know that I am an avid book reader. I enter book giveaways and contests from time to time -- especially for those books that I would really like to read. This past week, that has really paid off; I won an Easter package from Josh McDowell Ministries! Here she is:

Do you see that book with the coffee cup on the front? That would be this book -- Did the Resurrection Happen... Really? I am giving away a copy of this book! It's a novel of sorts, co-written by Dave Sterrett. It's written from the perspective of a dialogue on the Resurrection taking place around a coffee-table-type setting. I am still in the process of reading this book, but it is a very quick read (only 145 pp.) and there are quotes from various scholars on the subject of the Resurrection interspersed throughout the book. It also sprinkles in just enough description in between to make a very interesting novel-like read.

The synopsis of the book is as follows:

A tragedy on campus claims the lives of nine students. And the whole event leaves hundreds more asking some hard questions about life and death.
Lauren hears all this talk of heaven, Jesus' resurrection, and eternal life, and as comforting as it sounds -- she doesn't buy it. There are just too many unanswered questions:
- Can't I be a Christian without believing in the resurrection?
-What if it was all just a big conspiracy theory?
-Is there any real evidence of Jesus having risen from the dead?
-Why did Jesus have to die, anyway?
Two other students, Scott and Brett, are on a mission to prove it wrong by scouring old texts and challenging many of the assumptions held by their Christian friends.
These students' journey begins with questions about the resurrection, and it ends with some unexpected answers.

I had won this book previously from another giveaway, so I'm giving away ONE copy to one lucky winner!

  20. While your post on "Reasoning With the Jehovah's Witnesses" is extensive and I made some notes, I was hoping for something a bit simpler to help me on my next visit. It seems as soon as you question them, they must leave. So I hoped to pose a short question before they leave, that they might look into for clarification and better understanding. #1
