Book Review: SEAL of God

Image
I first learned of Chad Williams when I watched him debate an atheist during one of his street preaching events. Later, I found him through Ray Comfort’s ministry; he was always the one who would bring up the apologetics-related topics on their show, On The Box . Needless-to-say, I loved it! So when I heard that he was writing a book, I knew I had to read it. That book, SEAL of God , is an excellent read. It is the testimony of former Navy SEAL, Chad Williams, chronicling his life from before he met Christ to his unexpected encounter with Him, and his experiences in BUD/S SEAL training. The book begins with stories from Chad’s “wild” side in his younger years. Always the adventure seeker, Chad chased every dream he had, and he was always in search of the next “thrill.” It was obvious that he was searching for something, though at the time, he didn’t know what that was. He finally decided that becoming a SEAL was the way to fill the void. A former Navy SEAL, Scott Helvenston, to...

180 Movie: Pro-Choice To Pro-Life... In Seconds!

Image
I just finished watching the phenomenal movie 180 . The movie, a 33 minute film by Living Waters , shows a series of discussions Ray Comfort conducts with 8 pro-choice people who change their minds about abortion in a matter of seconds! What was it that got them to change their minds? The film releases today, September 26. My personal opinion of the movie is that it was very hard-hitting, yet compassionate towards pro-choice individuals as it got to the root of the issue -- that abortion and murder are synonymous -- while sharing that there is hope in Christ. Personally, while I thought the film was excellent, even as a staunchly pro-life advocate, I don't necessarily expect all supporters of abortion to change their minds after watching this film, but I do believe it will get them thinking -- which is, in my view, one step in the right direction. I applaud Ray's efforts; this is much needed in our culture today. Whether you're pro-life or pro-choice , this is a ...

180 In A Matter Of Seconds!

Image
I have some exciting news for the Ray Comfort fans out there: Living Waters is putting together a documentary entitled 180 which will feature interviews with people on the streets showing how they change their minds from a pro-choice to pro-life stance in a matter of seconds.  Here's the trailer: And here is a message from Ray on why this is an important message and what you can do to support the movie: After it's release on September 26, the movie can be watched for FREE at the official website. You can find out more here: http://www.180movie.com/ And as a side note, if you've not yet seen Living Waters' On The Box program and blog , you should consider doing so today. The program tackles evangelism and other topics relevant to sharing the Gospel in today's society. Also, if you're an apologist or someone who likes a good debate, you may want to consider checking out Ray's blog where there are many hecklers/trolls... just saying :-)

Open Air Preaching: Christian vs Atheist Debate

Today, I thought I'd share these clips from Living Waters . In these videos, Chad does an excellent job debating an atheist. I love the quick-wit responses; after all, we are commanded in the Word of God to know what we believe and why we believe it. I could go on in commentary, but I'll leave it up to my readers for now. Let me know what y'all think!

Atheism And It's Problems

The following is based on Ray Comfort's book God Doesn't Believe in Atheists . This post is by no means exhaustive on the topic; my goal here is to provide the three main problems of atheism, as I see it. ---------- Recently, I saw an atheist’s claim, “Atheists are Atheists because they are right; there is no god.” I promptly responded, “I assume you have proof for this claim; if I say, ‘Christians are Christians because they are right – there is a God,’ I need proof, and I have it. What proof do you have?” The trouble is that most atheists can’t tell you because they don’t have proof; their faith is based primarily on the assumption of “seeing is believing,” the “facts” of evolution, or the “blind faith” of atheism. Many atheists (some without realizing it) have fallen into a trap: it’s not that they can’t find God, it’s that they won’t, because they have hardened their hearts: “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” (Psalm 14:1) Ray Comfort was right when h...

Ray Comfort's Campaign Results

Image
The following is from the Ray Comfort 's newsletter, Living Waters . I wanted to share it with you all because I found it to be both amazing and hilarious... ----------------------- October 12, 2010 We wanted to tell you, but couldn't until today. As you may remember, last year teams passed out more than 220,000 copies of Darwin's Origin of Species, which contained a 50-page Foreword explaining Intelligent Design and presenting the gospel. Approximately 170,000 of these were given to students in 100 of America's top universities. A clearly angered Richard Dawkins, who had encouraged students to tear out the Foreword, called me "an idiot" on CNN when asked for his thoughts on the giveaway. In March of 2010, when the Professor lectured in Australia and New Zealand, teams gave away over 20,000 books at his meetings. On that occasion he called me a "flat-earther." During this past week, professor Dawkins has been speaking in five U.S. universitie...

Open-Minded Atheists

I just received a Living Water's Newsletter (Do you receive them? If not, you should!), and I was excited to see this: “Dear Ray, I am an atheist. I have read much of your blog, from its innocent beginnings, to the turning point of the atheists flooding the comment pages… and as I read the hateful things the atheists say to/about you and God, I want to assure you that we are not all so closed-minded and hateful. I appreciate everything you are trying to do for us. I admire your unwavering faith, your tolerance and humor, and I know you will never give up on the atheists! Thank you for opening my mind.” ~R. I am aware that there are other likeminded atheists out there; however, each time I see a truly open-minded atheist , it is so refreshing. For the most part, all you ever see are those who may or may not claim to be open-minded as they search for the truth, and then they pick apart everything that you say. So I'm glad to see that there are some sincere atheists out there...
