Women In Apologetics Conference To Feature Former Zoegirl Artist As Event's Worship Leader
The group Women In Apologetics (formerly ISWA) announced via Facebook yesterday that they will feature former Zoegirl artist Alisa Childers as worship leader for their first annual apologetics event to be held on January 19-20, 2018.
They stated, "What is often missing from apologetics conferences? Worship! While we are loving God with our minds, we should not neglect to worship God with our hearts. This is why we are excited to have the talented Alisa Childers (formerly of ZOEgirl) lead us in worship at the Inaugural Women in Apologetics Conference, Jan 19 & 20, 2018! You will not want to miss it so, mark your calendars and share with your friends!"
Childers is a fitting choice for worship at the event, currently hosting her own podcast called Relevant where she talks about the current issues of our day from a Christian perspective. She has interviewed such apologists as J. Warner Wallace, Jonathan Morrow, and Clay Jones. She also blogs about apologetics issues on her website. She says, "As a lifelong church-goer, follower of Jesus, and former CCM recording artist, I experienced a period of profound doubt about my faith in my mid-thirties. I felt as though I had been tossed in a stormy ocean of uncertainty with no life jacket or lifeboat in sight. I didn't know where to find answers to my questions, or if answers existed at all. Did I have to accept it all on some kind of blind faith? I began to investigate my faith intellectually—I took seminary classes and read everything I could get my hands on. This began my journey from unreasoned doubt into a vibrant, rational, and informed faith." She is also one of the event's breakout speakers.
WIA's mission is simple: "Within the Church there are passionate women of God who serve, worship, and love God with all their hearts. Yet, many Christian women neglect loving God with their minds. God desires for us to love Him with our whole being and experience a deeper relationship with Him. This is why you should join Women in Apologetics as we hold our inaugural apologetics conference–in partnership with Biola University’s Apologetics Department, Intelligent Faith, and Mama Bear Apologetics. We will wrestle with the tough questions and help equip you to minister to doubting skeptics and struggling Christians. Think apologetics is just for men? Think again! It’s time for women to join the conversation."
The keynote speaker lineup is currently as follows:
Mary Jo Sharp (Confident Christianity), Melissa Cain Travis (Hardcore Apologetics), Natasha Crain (whose book "How To Talk to Your Kids About God" just hit bookstores this week), and
Hillary Morgan Ferrer (of Mama Bear Apologetics and an Emcee at the event). Laurie Stewart of Intelligent Faith will also be an emcee and breakout speaker at the event.
There will also be Kids Apologtics Training on Saturday, January, 20 (registration required).
Tickets are now available; click here for details on the conference schedule as it unfolds and on how to reserve your seat. Ladies, this is an event you won't want to miss!
