In Defense of the Christian Faith

As many of you know, I'm a big fan of CSE ministries. Well, I just found out two things that I think you'll all be excited to hear: 1) The makers of "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" are making a film about Dr. Kent Hovind called "Dr. Dino: Where Creation and Evolution Collide"! You can find out all the details here . If it's anything like "Expelled," I am expecting it to be GOOD. I also think it's awesome that the mission statement of Resurrection Pictures, the "film ministry" behind this project, says that its mission is to "produce and distribute Christian movies for theatrical release with the objective of bringing people to salvation in Jesus Christ." This week for Something Beautiful , I wanted to talk about something, or rather, someone, who is very special to me. I have previously talked about creationist Dr. Kent Hovind, highlighting what a man of God he is and what a great work that he is doing for the Lord. For those of you who don't know, Dr. Hovind is a young-earth creationist who teaches the truth about creation and exposes the lies of evolution. Yesterday, I was flipping through a book on the history of Pennsylvania. It is particularly geared toward the innovations that Pennsylvania is responsible for spawning in the United States; it is really quite an interesting book. But do you know what I read on the first page of the first chapter? Can't guess? Well, let's take a peak: "Long before dinosaurs roamed the earth, about 300 million years ago, the key geographic features of this region formed..." These kinds of statements always get my blood boiling. How do THEY know what happened 300 million years ago? The truth is, they don't. Were they there? Obviously not (if they were, I'd say that's one OLD person! ;) ). If no one was there to witness the event -- and it's obvious that no one was -- why are they stating it like it's the "gospel truth"? This is SUPPOSED to be the HISTORY of Pennsylvania, not someone's preconceived ideas! It continued: "Vast tropical swamps covere...

There are things you learn as you go... Since the (almost) two years that I've maintained this blog, I've met a lot of people -- some Christian, some non-Christian. Many times, people are inspired by my posts. Other times, people disagree. Therefore, I felt that I must clarify/redefine my blog rules. My intention is not to sound harsh or mean, but my goal here is 1) to be the best witness I can for Christ, 2) to inspire people, and 3) to defend the Christian faith. If people disagree with me, that doesn't bother me (everyone is entitled to his own opinion), but I want people to know where I stand. Sometimes people sneak around, look at the blog rules, and then post a nasty comment; others comment and when I don't publish their comment right away, they comment under "anonymous." UPDATE : Since posting this, I have received a few negative comments. I refrained from posting them, because there is already so much flack out there against Kent Hovind. My point in posting this is NOT for people to come here and bash Kent Hovind; I wanted to put something positive out there on the web about him. Is Evolution compatible with Christianity? This is an important question that I would ask to every person who believes in "theistic evolution." Whether or not the two are compatible, it brings out some important questions that are always ignored in an attempt to adhere to evolution, theistic or not. I once had some theistic evolutionists tell me that evolution is not the denial of God. I was stating that the atheist doesn't believe in God because of evolution, and the "theists" were claiming that evolution is not the issue. I beg to differ. In fact, I do not believe that there is such a thing as "theistic" evolution."
