Reason Rally 2012 -- it's probably something you've heard about if you are into Christian apologetics at all (and even if you happen to be a non-believer, you have probably heard of it). It's a rally that wishes to promote "science, secularism, and reason," and it includes such speakers as Richard Dawkins , PZ Myers, and Lawrence Krauss, to name a few. The rally will be held on March 24, the weekend after St. Patrick's Day. If there is one debate I wish I could travel to see, it would be this one! Several British organizations have been trying to get Professor Richard Dawkins and a few other prominent atheists to debate Dr. Craig... but that has been easier said than done. One atheist, Polly Toynbee who is also the president of the British Humanist Association, was to debate Dr.Craig on October 17th; however, she later declined. Stephen Law will be her replacement. Additionally, it was highly anticipated that atheist professor Richard Dawkins would be debating Dr. Craig on October 25th, but  he refused to debate him . An empty chair will be set up on the Sheldonian Theatre stage should Dawkins change his mind; and Craig will speak on the flaws of Dawkins' book The God Delusion if Dawkins doesn't show up. For today's Inspiring Story on this Friday apologetics finds weekend, I am posting Lee Strobel's testimony. There have been some skeptics who claim that Lee is in it for the money, but when you consider his lifestyle prior to his conversion to Christianity and his background as a journalist, it is pretty easy to tell that this guy is genuine. I highly recommend his "Case" books (and in my opinion, he certainly makes a good "case" for Christianity). Lee has also recently come out with a new book titled "The Ambition: A Novel." Recently,  an article came out stating that Richard Dawkins is a coward for refusing to debate Dr. William Lane Craig. According to the article, Dawkins received four requests from Dr. Craig via " The British Humanist Association, The Cambridge Debating Union, the Oxford Christian Union and Premier Radio," but he refused them all stating " that Prof Craig is not a figure worthy of his attention and has reportedly said that such a contest would 'look good' on his opponent’s CV but not on his own." One of Dawkin's colleagues is taking issue with this saying that  “The absence of a debate with the foremost apologist for Christian theism is a glaring omission on your CV and is of course apt to be interpreted as cowardice on your part. “I notice that, by contrast, you are happy to discuss theological matters with television and radio presenters and other intellectual heavyweights like Pastor Ted Haggard of the National Association of Evangelicals and Pasto...

I've heard it so many times before. Maybe you've heard it, too. When talking with an evolutionist, they will often bring up the objection that evolution is a "scientific fact," but creation is a "religion." I disagree; they are both religions. As Joe White and Nicholas Comninellis stated in their book Darwin's Demise , “the difference between a ‘philosophy’ like humanism and naturalism, and a ‘religion’ is not definable. Both describe a particular way of viewing the world, history, human nature, and morality. A ‘religion’ may or may not include reference to a supernatural being. Today is April Fool's Day. While I am not too enthralled with the idea of playing tricks on people, I wanted to share a little story with you all (no offense meant to those to whom it refers): An atheist complained to a Christian friend, "You Christians have your sacred holidays, such as Christmas and Easter. Jews celebrate their national holidays, such as Passover and Yom Kippur. But we atheists have no recognized national holidays. It's unfair discrimination." His friend replied, "Why don't you celebrate April first?" On a more serious note, I would like to remind you all that we are called to be "fools for Christ" (1 Corinthians 4:10). This does not mean that we are to act stupid in the name of Christ; rather, it means that we are to go about God's business -- even if it makes us look like fools in the process. In recent weeks, it seems that attacks upon some of Christianity's core beliefs have been escalating in several major areas, so I wanted to share my thoughts on these in today's post -- from a purely Christian perspective. 1) A few months before Christmas last year, the American Atheists erected a billboard claiming that true message of Christmas was all just a myth. Now, an ad stating, "You Can Live Moral, Meaningful Lives without God" has been posted at Farragut West Metro station in Washington, D.C. Often, when Christians such as Ray Comfort bring up the point that atheists believe something came from nothing, they are told that this is simply not the case. Well, here is proof positive that many do in fact hold to this belief. Have you ever heard someone say that they won't believe in God because it is based on "blind faith"? Or maybe they say, "I believe in science -- that which is testable, observable, and repeatable." In other words, they only believe in what they can see. Many times, even when we know the evidence for Christianity, this phrase can stump Christians. So how do we answer this assertion? The answer is found in the very Scripture which the skeptics use to say that faith is blind: Hebrews 11:1. Let's take a look at it for a moment: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen...." Does this mean that Christians believe in what they can't see? After all, the skeptics will say, "We can't see God." However, if we examine this passage more closely, we can see that this is not what is implied at all. The other day, I listened to an amazing audio of Holly Ordway and Steven Notman, two former atheists, sharing their testimony of their journeys out of atheism. I just watched this short video about the mathematical existence for God. While I am aware that to an atheist this would not be sufficient proof of God's existence, it is pretty cool! Check it out!

About a month ago, I was made aware of the American Atheists' attempt to stifle the true meaning of Christmas. What do I mean by that? Take a look: This billboard is being displayed in New York City by the Lincoln Tunnel on the New Jersey side! Don't get me started, but I do find that a bit offensive; I realize that the billboard is on New Jersey's side, but just the fact that it's even by the New Jersey entrance to New York is maddening. I LIVE  in New York (albeit Upstate), and I can tell you first hand that not everyone agrees with their statement that "it's a myth." And they are basically implying that those of us who believe in Christ's birth (and why He came) are nuts, that we don't use reason: "This Season, Celebrate Reason"! Talk about subtle (or not) indoctrination, not to mention all the people who will be offended by the billboard! (And I am aware that not every atheist agrees with the stance of the American Atheists.) Her...

Today, I rediscovered a video by comedian Mark Lowry, entitled, " Home Depot/Dealing With An Atheist." The first half has absolutely nothing to do with apologetics, but I thought it was so funny that I included it anyways. In the second half, Mark shares a story of his first encounter with an atheist. I do have a few disclaimers for this video, though: First of all, do NOT watch the first half while you are eating (for more than one reason, as you shall see)! :) Secondly,  while I do not endorse Home Depot due to its support of homosexuals , I did find the first half to be quite humerous -- because it is true! :D Thirdly, I am in no way attacking atheists by posting this video; however, I do find Mark's points to be quite pertinent to the "Does God Exist?" debate.
